The Health and Environmental Risks of GMOs & Pesticides
Environmental speaker Rachel Parent, will speak about how every bite of food we eat can either diminish or improve our health and the health of our environment. Our current chemical intensive, Genetically Modified (GM) agriculture system is depleting nutrients in our soil, leading to a global nutrition crisis, while at the same time negatively impacting our environment.
Rachel will explain the health and environmental risks of GMOs and Glyphosate used in their production.

Rachel outlines some of the best steps we can take to become climate activists in our daily lives. From individual actions, to holding government and corporations accountable there is so much that each and every one of us can do to make a difference. In order to protect our earth we have to fall back in love with nature, from our bees to the amazon. She will outline her first steps of activism and inspire others to get involved with youth movements.

Rachel will outline the importance of youth activism. Now more than ever young people’s voices need to be heard. She speaks about young people finding their passions and pursuing change making.

Rachel connects the dots between climate change and our eating habits. She will discuss how becoming vegan, or pursuing a plant-based diet can help to cut down on environmental damages such as water pollution, deforestation in the amazon, and green-house gas emissions. All this while fostering a more compassionate and ethical lifestyle that protects animals and the planet.
